Sundays at 8:30am & 11:10am

In Lutheran liturgies we emphasize the proclamation of the Word and the sharing of the Sacrament of Holy Communion. The liturgy seeks to give a clear vision of the significance of Jesus Christ for our lives. Aside from seasonal or occasional variation, worship services at St. Mark honor the historic pattern of Lutheran worship, (i.e., Gathering, Word, Meal, and Sending). This pattern, which Christians have used for centuries, provides room for much variety.

Traditional worship services worship and praise God using settings from Evangelical Lutheran Worship. These settings contain all parts of the Lutheran liturgy: an order of confession and forgiveness, historic creeds and Lord’s Prayer, a strong scriptural base, and Holy Communion.

This service utilizes a more formal atmosphere and engages acolytes and crucifers in the service. The Chancel Choir also sings weekly at one of the Traditional Services. Music at these services is upbeat and emphasizes familiar hymns. The music also includes classical music along with newer music. The organ is the primary musical instrument. Additionally, the service has a biblical focus with practical daily issues, life experiences, events and real faith for real life.

Holy Communion is celebrated at both traditional worship services every Sunday. Everyone who is baptized is welcome to come forward and receive communion, you do not have to be Lutheran. The first Sunday of each month, Holy Communion is at the Rail. During the service, those who wish to partake of Holy Communion come forward and kneel at the Altar Rail, then receive the bread and the wine (small cup of wine). The remaining Sundays, Holy Communion is done by Intinction (dipping the wafer into the wine). Children who are too young to partake of Holy Communion are still welcome to come forward for a blessing.

The Nursery is open for infants and toddlers during both traditional worship services.
